Carol Willey

Carol graduated from the University of Ulster, Belfast with a BA Honours in Fine and Applied Art in 2005. She has since completed a PGCE and currently teaches Art in a secondary school.

Predominantly a textile artist, Carol uses a variety of fabrics, often recycling and hand dying fabrics she collects.  She enjoys exploiting her skills in a variety of techniques, including applique, surface texture and embroidery. Carol is inspired by the rich history of the Irish linen industry, which is apparent in her “range of traditional and contemporary textile techniques, the pieces [I create] often have a painterly feel to them, and can be decorative or sculptural.”

With a recent interest in clay and its natural qualities, Carol is broadening her horizons in Art.
