Dermot Burns
Dermot studied Art at the Ulster Polytechnic and Loughborough College of Art and Design, before moving across the water and immersing himself in a life of excitement and Art in London. He quickly became involved with L.I.V.I.A. Art Group, and exhibited work with them extensively around the bustling city.
Later, Dermot returned to Ireland and eventually joined the N.A.A.C. Art Group, now known as the Shore Collective, and hasn’t looked back since.
Having exhibited in England, France and Ireland, Dermot’s work has explored dark themes of horror and violence, as he is fascinated by “the suspended moment of impact in a violent or destructive action, the sense of displacement a large city can generate.” However, he also enjoys “reflecting back to images from my childhood…Cowboys seem to loom large.”
